Mr Whitfield is the Principal Investment Officer at Drumrock Capital, an investment firm providing capital and advisory services to start-up and early round companies. He has undertaken board and supporting roles in several companies in the specialty resource and new energy space. He was formerly a Managing Director with Citigroup where he held the position of head of the corporate equity solutions group (Asia Pacific). Prior to this, he worked for Deutsche Bank where he was head of the strategic equity transactions group (Asia Pacific). Mr. Whitfield received his Masters in Business Administration (majoring in Finance and Strategy) from Columbia Business School (New York) in 1998 and his Bachelor of Economics from The University of Exeter (U.K).
Mr Plowright has extensive experience in the resource sector, having a background in mining law and administration, as well as regulatory process and mine development. Mr Plowright has held board and senior management positions in both Australia and South Korea.
Merrill has 15 years’ experience as a Board of Director and CEO leading Australian ASX listed, public and private companies. Her 30-year career spans both mining and energy.
Merrill has worked in precious and base metals for companies including WMC Ltd, BHP Group Ltd, Iluka Resources Ltd and GCM Ltd, and led projects, business development and opportunity assessments in hydrogen, waste to energy and renewables for Ausnet Services Ltd, Flow Power, RayGen Resources Ltd and recently for Lithium Australia NL in Battery materials. Her focus is on Future Energy and the roles that raw materials and technologies play to deliver significant market shifts.
Merrill has applied her skills and knowledge as a corporate advisor in strategy, technology commercialisation, M&A and on capital raisings. This has included work with lean agile specialist Secora, GHD Group and GRDMinproc which is now part of Wood Group.
Merrill has a mining and mineral processing engineering degree from Otago School of Mines (B.Eng. (Mining)), as well as a B.Sc. in Geology and an M.B.A from Melbourne Business School. She is a Fellow of both the AusIMM and Engineers Australia, a graduate of the AICD directors’ course, and has been a Chairs ASX 100 mentee with the AICD.
Merrill is experienced in leading global business expansion strategy development, establishing investment funds (A$0.5bn), managing multi-product production (in +A$3 billion asset based businesses) and leading large, complex project developments (A$1bn Capex) working with technology providers including Siemens, RWE and Air Liquide.
Ms Grove is an experienced executive with a wealth of commercial and finance experience and a strong track record in the development and implementation of business strategy, joint venture management and project planning and execution.
She has held senior positions in a number of Australian and international companies predominantly in mining and oil and gas, including AWE and Rio Tinto.
Ms Grove holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the Australian National University, is a Certified Practicing Accountant and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).
Mr Caren is a Chartered Accountant and graduated with a B.Com from the University of Western Australia. Mr Caren has over 20 years of experience in the minerals exploration industry and has provided financial and corporate services to several listed and unlisted companies involved in the resources sector.
He joined Hexagon as Company Secretary in September 2017.
